Hi guys!

Just a little update about an upcoming art book from the studio I work for *atomhawk!

I can't say I make a habit out of advertising anything, but after getting my hands on my own copy of the book I can safely say it's awesome. Anyone who is a collector of artbooks, like myself, might get a kick out of this. It's stuffed with wicked art and it's up for pre-order!

It’s a long shot, I know, but I’m dipping my toes in the water to see if I have any followers who are in Newcastle or there abouts? If I can drum up enough interest, I’m going to try and start a regular sketch group. This is a local thing, I want to socialise with people a bit more, I still don’t know many people here and it’d be nice to change that. Hello my lovelies! It's been a hell of a while. My last journal update was back in July and a lot's changed since then, so I'm due an update right? I'll try and keep it short and sweet.

Most notably, back in September I moved up to Newcastle upon tyne to start working with the lovely guys at Atomhawk. It was a crazy couple of weeks, relocating super fast, moving away from my loved ones and settling into art 9 to 5, but... I love it! My time there has flown already and it's awesome, I get to paint all day ;D
I can't wait to start sharing all the stuff I've been working on and I will as soon as I can.

In other news! If you pick up the latest ImagineFX issue, you'll find my art on the cover! It was seriously awesome to be asked to paint a cover

There's a tutorial from me and if you ever wanted to see my work at 100% resolution, pick up the issue!

Lastly! It's almost five years on Deviant art for me now, where the hell did that go!? So thanks for the early 'birthday' messages.

Phew, I truly suck at journal updates! It would appear, however, that I hit the 1,000,000 pv mark. I've never really made that much fuss over page views but I feel I should pipe up and say a big thank you! So thanks for the continued support dudes! My journal might suffer from a lack of updates but I'm constantly updating my Tumblr blog. There's more art floating around on there for those interested.

You can still watch my Video Tutorial if you have the slightest of interest. Brush and palette available below. I'm thinking about another tut at some point in the future. You guys are asking me to cover sketching more so I'll try and do that!

Here's the brush I used for the painting (all of it). For anyone that wants it. Open it in PS, Edit > define brush preset. Go in to brush settings > other dynamics and enable both the opacity and flow jitter to pen pressure. Spacing 10%.

Okay, here it is! My Video Tutorial. It's not too long, around 30 minutes of time lapse with me chatting / trying to give advice / effing rambling! Hopefully I don't sound like too much of an idiot >_> The time lapse is of the painting that I continued to work on (through livestream). It's in HD so the quality is quite nice. The tutorial doesn't go through to the end of the painting. It just covers the way I paint, if you want to watch more of it, the rest of the painting is available to watch on demand through my Livestream channel. I'm not sure how helpful my attempt at a tutorial is, but hopefully it'll answer some of the questions I get!

Just a little update!

Back in January (22nd to be exact!) I had my DA 'anniversary' so to speak. Four years on DA. : ) I missed the exact date because I suck! LOL. But I wanted to thank all of my watchers, visitors, everyone! I get a lot of support from DA and it's entirely to blame for starting the digital art bug in me. So thank you Also a huge thank you to the crazy people who buy my prints. Here's to another four years!

On another note, although I rarely update my DA journal, I have started up my own blog on tumblr - one which will be updated almost daily. There'll be a lot of artwork up on there that will never see the likes of DA, more sketches, wips and works that never quite get finished. It'll all be on there. <sub>Hello 2010!

My last journal was the beginning of November last year @_@ So I'm officially due for another! I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas and New year. I myself did, despite catching the flu. Mmmm, germs. I don't really know if I'm the kind of person who sums up years that have passed, life just keeps on rolling. If I were, I'd say 2009 was a rather mixed bag. I had some nice accomplishments with my art but I lost some important people that year too. I'm definitely ready to grab 2010 by the proverbial horns and hopefully get closer to where I want to be by the end of it! I don't have any new resolutions, but rather a renewed sense of what I want. So bring it on!

That's my whole 2009 piece done. I really want to push myself with my art far more this year, so hopefully you'll be seeing much more from me. I'll also be openning up commissions pretty shortly.

It's not really a 'Charlie' journal unless there's a little something about Muse. The countdown has officially begun again! I'm off to see them at London's Wembley Arena later this year in September. I'm already salivating at the prospect. Salivating.

Now, Photography? Photography!
I've had a second account for a long time now, around 2 years. Back when I was in the whole 'I hate my name! Oh noes' stage, which I got a grip on and then got over. I made another account, which I've now figured out what to do with. I don't post any photography on this account aside from my ID's. Mainly because, that's not what anyone watches me for. But, when I'm not 'arting' or working, a lot of the time you can find me prancing around with a camera, attempting to capture the random snippets of my life. Now, I'm not actually any good it, but I thoroughly enjoy it just the same. So, when I'm not here, you can find me lurking around on my other account:

<sub>FINALLY. FIIIIIIIINALLY I have seen my favorite band live! MUSE. One day I will stfu about them but until then - Last night was every shade of epic! Every god damned shade. Getting to the arena was an absolute nightmare. The traffic was insane and made me so late, I was fairly convinced I was going to miss the beginning, which would have resulted in some serious rage! Thankfully they started later so I didn't miss it. I made it by about ten minutes >_>

They were everything I expected and so much more. Unsuprisingly, they are so amazing live, so much better! I didn't think I could love that band any more, but I was wrong. My mind is thoroughly blown. Sheffield Arena was a litte small in my opinion, so I'm so looking forward to seeing them at the NIA next week. Bigger crowd, woo!

Pictures! Thankfully Amy took a few pictures, I was far too busy practically screaming my lungs out. All of the guys were fantastic and it was fun to see Matt being his energetic self!

The set was awesome but felt like it was over far too fast! ;_; They played Feeling good, which was a suprise. I didn't think they were going to, but squealed like a little girl when they did! Clapping out the start to Starlight was just awesome and Knights of Cydonia was epic. The whole damn thing was brilliant and the piano sections were just amazing!

I'll shut up now. LOL. Roll on next week for round 2!</sub>

<sub>Eventually I'll update my journal without having to mention anything about death. I'm sick of it! Sadly not yet, I lost my adorable Dog of almost thirteen years today, Cola. I'm really upset over losing her, she was completely adorable and I will miss her little face soooooo much.

*sigh*

On a far brighter note, the day that I have been anticipating for months has almost arrived. Tomorrow - I see Muse! I'm so incredibly excited and after the cruddiness of the last few weeks, I intend to enjoy myself as much as possible. Bring on the thousands of fans and partial deafness please.

Apologies for all my whiney journals as of late, everything good seems to be tainted with loss this year. Sucks muchly, hopefully this is the last of it! Brace yourselves for a post Muse journal. I'll try and get some pictures 8D.</sub>

As you might have already gathered, I'm back in Old Blighty. I arrived home yesterday morning and the time difference made for some immense tiredness. I'm scraping together a journal about my trip before I lose the will to do it. We all know how terrible I am with journals.

Before that though, unfortunately I received some bad news at the end of my holiday. A good friend of mine, one of the people I work with - James Whirledge (or Whirlers as he was affectionately nick-named by us) sadly passed away. He was brilliant, he had a heart of gold and was wondefully funny. He was just 18, the baby of our group at work and he will be sorely missed. We all love you Whirlers.



As I said, I'll tell you guys a little about Florida! I did have a great time, even through that abnormally hot october weather. You get a jumble of pictures due to my laziness. I got up to quite a lot while I was there so I won't go through everything, just some highlights. I went to the parks of course, they were fun but oh so tiring!

Tiny pictures because I'm mean, obviously. First is dolphins! once again, obviously. We went on a two day trip, starting the Florida Keys. This was Dolphin Cove in Key Largo, and even though I find the idea of swimming with dolphins a little overdone, it really was amazing. It was a memorable experience, as you can tell by how completely retarded I look in that second picture! I swam with the two biggest dolphins in the facility, LB & Ding, who were massive ._. The only downside to that day was a woman with a full set of gold teeth, she scared the crap out of me.

Next up is the Everglades! We went there the following day and went on an Airboat, very noisey and very fun. Driver managed to soak just about everyone on the boat. How nice she was. The last stop on the trip was an afternoon in Miami. Back onto a boat for a tour, which was fun but stiflingly hot.

Another favorite from my holiday, was hand feeding Giraffes in Busch Gardens. They were so cute and really, I never knew lettuce was so appealing.



I got some great souvenirs whilst I was there. My favorite being a completely awesome, framed print of the original Back To The Future movie poster. It's my favorite film ever and I swear I would have dribbled if it wasn't so disgusting. It has pride of place on my one wall not plastered with Muse stuff! I got an epic Spongebob cushion, although my slight thing for spongebob isn't something I talk about often 8D. I have a couple of other things too, but I think that's enough talking for now.

Just a quick journal entry to let you guys know I'll be gone for a while! Heading off to the U.S. Of A in the morning.
So if I don't reply, I swear I'm not being horribly ignorant. I'll be back on the 17th. Until then my pretties!

Jet lag PLZ. Should be much fun! My body can take a little abuse I guess. Then I'm counting down to Nomvember. MUUUUUUUUSE tour <3
